BorgWarner Turbocharger

I have a S362-SXE and I have full boost around 2700-2900 (may be earlier, I need to dig through my logs to check). I make about 600hp and 550rwhp on pump all day every day, no e85. Perfect street turbo.

Pros: full boost at low RPM, high horsepower, perfect street turbo
Vehicle: Toyota Supra

BorgWarner Turbocharger

I’ve personally used the Borg Warner EFR series (the 6258) and the performance is incredible. I’ve never actually driven anything that has spooled so well and so quickly. It completely changes the driving characteristics with the amount of torque you get from these EFR’s.

I suppose the downside is they use dual ceramic ball bearing housings. It’s how they spool to fast. If your turbo fails, it’ll be very hard to find anyone that rebuilds them.

Pros: incredible performance, fast spool, quick torque
Cons: hard to rebuild

BorgWarner Turbocharger

The heart of the CTS Turbo MK6 2.0TSI turbo upgrade kit is the Borg Warner K04-0064 turbocharger. This turbocharger is commonly used in OEM applications such as the Audi S3 available in Europe. The highlights of this Borg Warner turbocharger in our kit is the 'forged mill' compressor wheel, which brings numerous benefits to the enthusiast. The technology used in the production of these turbos provides us with a variety of benefits, reduced compressor wheel weight (faster spool), increased strength, and greater surface area of the compressor wheel. Because of the 'forged mill' technology Borg Warner can increase the effective surface area of the compressor wheel, which results in greater air flow than conventional cast compressor wheels.

Pros: faster spool, increased strength
Vehicle: Audi S3
Part number: K04-0064

BorgWarner Turbocharger

IMO, the minimal increase in power is not worth it. I wasted countless time and money on this turbo and was disappointed in the end. I have since stepped up to a 28RS and am beyond please with the jump. Spool time on a small frame BT is minimal, and 300whp is plenty streetable no matter what some say. I have a k04-001. With meth, I put down a reliable 225whp all day long (and that's on the ole' heartbreak dynodynamics dyno). She holds her power, too; peaks way later in the rpm range unlike the wily k03s, yet is still @20psi when you turn the key. Is it fun..yes. Is it worth it monitarily...meh. At best, it makes for a great auto-x setup. Don't expect to do much damage beyond 3rd gear, though. I will be upgrading in the near future to a T3s60 or 28RS if that means anything to ya. I've had this setup for less than six months, and expect it gone within the year.

Pros: reliable 225whp, holds power, peaks later, fun, great auto-x setup
Cons: minimal power increase, not worth monetary cost, disappointing, not much damage beyond 3rd gear
Part number: 5304-950-0001

Rating 4.0

Having driven my 2001 in both modes as well, I would say the top-end gains are where I felt a change, but even then, we're not talking 5-car-lengths in races here, folks. That being said, my K04 works nicely and the torque feels a bit more broad and I am enjoying it.

Pros: torque feels more broad
Cons: gains have been minimal
