I never ran the vwr or the neuspeed but I did ran koni yellow on my mk4 and I liked them alot.
Best Shock absorbers for Volkswagen Golf
I had the FSD/Eibach setup on my MK5 and loved it. The FSD is a great option for those who dont want to be jolted around constantly but a super stiff suspension but still want it stiff in the corners.on highway and around town it was similar to stock but once I took a good corner it stuck it real well.
Personally I think Koni's are a better choice for street/everyday driving ( softer and less jarring over road imperfections).
I have Koni red's in my MK4 at stock ride height, I think the ride is nice just a bit firmer then stock sport suspension.
A quick bench test revealed the damping rate of the replacement shocks to feel approximately twice that of the originals, which were way too soft even for daily driving over bad surfaces.
Stock springs with Bilstein TC = "Most Comfortable" Everything else is a compromise between looks, comfort and handling.
The Bilstein sports are a good choice for a cupkit. I think the ones I have are Bilstein HD. They came off my old vr gti. So far Im happy with them
There's a difference, but it isn't great, I ran mk1 rear Koni's on my old syncro with a pair of Jetta GTI 16v rear springs, and regular mk2 Koni and 16v golf front springs, and it sat level, and handled great.
The 9s are single adjustable. They adjust rebound AND compression in the same direction, at the same time. The PSS kit is about a 2-3 on the scale of 1-9 according to both Bilstein and my own personal testing. The 9s can deffinetely be softened up considerably and ride quite well on the softer settings.
Koni... they transformed my Mk4 Golf into something that rode and handled better when compared to stock... The ride was stiffer, but the quality was actually better, especially on the highway. A lot of people noticed and commented on how good the car felt.
