I use these pads. They only make noise when its really cold out. After I drive/brake for a few minutes the noise goes away. I use these pads because I have white wheels. I get roughly an extra week and a half before my wheels look really bad. That alone was worth it to me. Rotors still look fine as well. Hope this helps.
I just replaced mine yesterday, same ones you got (Bosch Icon 18OE & 26OE). Popped the right adapter on, and were on the car in minutes. It took a bit, but I tracked down the Bosch A282H for the rear. It's on the way, so I'll know in a couple days if it fits, based on the comments on Amazon, it should. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0042ETBEQ/ I read somewhere that the OEM blades for the R were made by Bosch - and after comparing the two side by side, I'd have to say they look almost identical. The only major difference was in the clip, but that's to be expected since the Icon's have to use adapters to fit multiple vehicles.
Order these... They fit and work great. Took the old ones off and clipped these on. No messing with changing adapters or other nonsense... http://www.idparts.com/valeo-oe-wiper-blade-set-mkvii-golf-p-4647.html
I have Nitto Motivo tire on my Golf and love them. Good grip and wear.
So for those who want to know a mk4 tdi manual starter does fit in a mk4 1.8t manual car! The starter is a bit longer so make sure you have clearance for it. It fit fine in my car but it's a mk2 so not sure if there is clearance issues in a mk4. I had to adjust my boost piping a bit to not hit the longer starter but, that's no big deal. Keep in mind this starter cranks like a mother ****er but, does require a strong battery in some cases more cranking amps. My car doesn't get driven much so the battery wasn't at it's full capacity so I charged it up and she cranked like hell!
So, this year, I banked big and bought the test-winning studded tires from Nokian (Hakapeliita 8). And let me tell you, I don't think I'm going back to studless tires ever, unless studded tires suddenly become illegal here.
- The grip and handling-ability on ice is unmatched. Everyone who sais that studless tires have come such a long way that there almost isn't a difference anymore has never tried a studded tire and should shut up. Especially the difference in brake-ability on ice is huge. Studded tires outperform studless in any icy-condition, that is for sure and any other claim is wrong. these tires really have given me confidence that no other studless tire has before.
Been using these since I got this car 3 years ago.
I use 5w40 liquimoly. No leaks and everything was fine. I changed the oil about 2000km ago and checked tonight to see it very low at the fill line.
I used US Mobil 1 0W-40 in my old 1.8T (mk4). I used it for two changes (finished off a box) and always found it was burnt at only 3k miles. You could smell it as soon as I pulled the dipstick out.
