  • Acceleration:
Rating 4.0

I've been researching spark plugs and i believe the oem's in Phaeton are Platinum. I am certainly going to verify that and will change mine to Iridium's. For the purpose of better power, performance, and fuel mileage.

Lucas Oil additives
philcred
  • Response:
Rating 5.0

I decided to flush the engine any way first before I started the job and pulled the engine out. I put two bottles of car lube engine flush in the oil because of the amount of oil it holds (8.5l) and left the car ticking over for 45 min's wile I cleaned it. I took the car up on the ramp and drained engine oil and filter. Wow the oil come out black like a diesel. I decided to put new oil and filter in and run the car. I added Lucas additive run it up. I erased the fault code and took the car for a run. Omg the difference the car was like a rocket and no fault codes. Its been 7 days now and its like a different car.

Pros: car was like a rocket, no fault codes
Cons: oil come out black
Vehicle: Volkswagen Passat
Mileage: 89000 km

OEM Volkswagen Alternator

Also, it seems that it is a 120 amp alternator, so you might want to re-think using the Stock Rabbit harness and, instead, run a bigger cable, since the Rabbit alternators were 60 amps max.

Pros: higher amperage
Cons: bigger cable needed

OEM Volkswagen Ballast

Headlights are all perfect now. Both ballasts should site right side up, meaning red part is perfectly downwards and the font on the rear should be right side up (readable if your head wasn't up-side-down in your hood). So anyone else who has this 'V' shape issue probably has the same problem: incorrectly installed ballast (upside down, not in far enough, loose, etc.)

Pros: headlights are perfect now
Cons: incorrectly installed ballast

Brembo Brake discs
Jetex North America
  • Braking:
  • Noise:
Rating 5.0

The Brembo Sport kits are an introductory performance solution combined with an appealing aesthetic application. The Sport level is comprised of a 1-piece drilled or slotted and solid or vented rotors, according to your original manufacturers requirements. High carbon cast iron metallurgy insures top performance, noise reduction and improved comfort due to higher dampening coefficients. Cross-Drilled or Slotted Rotors: Clears gasses, cleans pads for better \"bite\". Attractive, Anti-Corrosive Finish: For a bold, aggressive appearance.

Pros: noise reduction, improved comfort

Lucas Engine oil

I use Lucas oil in my motor oil for 1990 VW 1.6L Jetta diesel. I started using Lucas Oil because a relative of mine has been driving a large semi for almost 30 years, and he, like many in the trucking industry, swear by Lucas Oil. Judging by the parts per million of metal present in my motor oil, my motor oil with 1 cup of Lucas Oil, was wearing pretty well.

Pros: wearing pretty well
Mileage: 12070 km

AIRTEX Fuel pump

I sold an Airtex fuel pump for a Mk2 GTI that had the factory part number filed off (like the part in the OP), and it had been painted, and you could see where Bosch was printed on it under the paint.
