VITOUR Tires

Vitour Galaxy R1 155R15, $63.89 each

Why a solid rib down the center?

These are vintage VW beetle size, 15 inch rim 4.5 inch wide. FWIW they have good reviews on the seller's website

Pros: good reviews on website
Part number: 155R15

APR Intercooler

Thanks for this great thread. I was about to pull the trigger on the EQT update for full torque on my Mk8R but I'm similarly skeptically about the possible long term consequences. Frankly speaking, it's darn quick already and I appreciate the overall flat torque curve. I feel it will be better for the track as well when I'm really revving it out..

Pros: overall flat torque curve
Cons: long term consequences

Hankook Tires
Sky-Fi
  • Ride comfort:
Rating 4.0

So I ended up going with the 185/65r14 Hankooks (891 revs/mile) ... Balancing is actually pretty good for a manual bubble-level. Smooth up to ~85mph and then a tiny vibration starts and gets a little worse around 95. That's fine.. I stay under 80mph 99.999% of the time anyway. And speedo is dead-accurate, now, too, for the first time in my 19 years of ownership.

Pros: good balancing, smooth ride, accurate speedo
Cons: slight vibration at high speed

BRIDGESTONE Tires

Set of staggered Bridgestone Blizzak tires, used for one season in Colorado (<5k miles), no longer need them. These came off a 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 with the 19 inch wheels. They worked great for us in Colorado.

Pros: fantastic snow and ice tires
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 8000 km

Bosch Ignition coil

I assumed it was bad and while it was sad to get rid of the OE Bosch, Autozone had a C831 coil that I was able to pick up. I think the boot was slightly too small but I’m 90% sure it’s making contact but I am still not getting it to arc.

Cons: boot slightly too small
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Part number: C831

OEM Volkswagen Water pump
XDleader555
  • Leaks:
  • Overheating:
Rating 3.0

Generally the OEM plastic water pump only lasts as long as the timing belt interval. I wouldn't rule it out since the overflow water you might be seeing could just be water which is expanding or boiling as you increase the engine speed.

Pros: lasts timing belt interval
Cons: plastic water pump

OEM Volkswagen Wiper blades
maximusbibicus
  • Wipe quality:
  • Streaks/chatter:
  • Noise:
Rating 2.0

I’ve had my car for 6 months. It’s loud on the return wipe, like it’s there is not enough water so it stutters. It happens regardless of how much water is on the glass. I had a MK7 and it was silent. Its happened since day 1, I’ll start by changing the blade and see if that is the issue.

Cons: loud on return wipe, stutters
