OEM Toyota Starter motor

This is exactly what happened to my 2004 corolla. Working all fine fresh battery alternator everything works had no issues. Next morning went to start it, nothing. I was thinking maybe electrical issue or fuse? All fuses and relays were good. Last resort I though could it be the starter? I’ve heard you can tap a starter with a hammer or wrench and if it attempts to start or actually starts, the starter gear is starting to wear out or issues with the starter solenoid. In my case, the starter teeth were all chewed up and it was crusty inside. Original starter after 168k miles. Fixed the problem. Been good ever since.

Pros: fixed the problem
Cons: starter teeth chewed up
Vehicle: Toyota Corolla
Mileage: 168000 km

Rating 4.5

I run grand-touring summers (H-rated Michelin Energy, used on the base Mini) on my Yaris year-'round here (Texas) and they are great, only getting a little scrabbly in sub-freezing temperatures. The summer Energy Saver (not the A/S) is the best all around tire I have ever had. Smooth, quiet, good steering response, excellent braking, tons of grip. If you slam on the brakes, it just STOPS without a bunch of scratching around and ABS intervention.

Pros: smooth, quiet, good steering, excellent braking, tons of grip
Cons: scrabbly in sub-freezing

Denso Starter motor

When I had to put a starter in my 3rd gen, I went with a Denso reman. You can usually find them on Amazon. Denso is the company who originally made the starter (and many other electrical parts) for Toyota, and their reman parts are usually of good quality, in my experience.

Pros: good quality, reliable parts
Vehicle: Toyota

AC DELCO Alternator

Put an AC Delco alternator on my Celica because I couldn't get a Denso for it. Wasn't going to buy a store brand reman that'll die in 6 months.

Pros: better than store brand
Vehicle: Toyota Celica

I had Duratracs on my Tacomas when I lived in the Denver area. They were reliable on and off road and handled well in all conditions. They were a little noisy when they wore down, but what 33's arent'?

Pros: reliable, handled well
Cons: noisy when worn

Monroe Tires

They did fine on the tire install I guess, though for some reason they took off my aftermarket chrome valve stem caps and put ****ty plastic ones on... pretty lame...

Pros: fine tire install
Cons: plastic valve stem caps
