I use the black OEM filter and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. The platinum and the Ultra Plat is the same formula now I’m pretty sure. I’d stick to the OEM filter too. It’s what my tuner recommends and I wouldn’t go against what he says unless it’s literally written in the stars
Subaru parts reviews
I put a set of Michelin Defender LTX M/S tires on my previous Outback and they were great
Ever since that, got some KO2s and can drive confidently in snow all day long.
My 2002 had a similar issue. In my case it was the spark plugs, $250 fix.
My Subaru is a torque converter auto with a DBW throttle. Between changing to a ported throttle body and altering the tip in enrichment and requested torque tables, the throttle response is N/A like as long as there aren't big changes in load.
From what I've read online, Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 is a solid option that you can find at most retailers.
I'm one of those "risk takers" that went with Motul 5w40 X-Cess. The oil has been fine as far as I can tell but I'm no expert.
Having had multiple Subarus that leak oil like crazy (they all do when they get old) the leaks are most likely too much for the stop leak additive to fix anyway.
I have a 2015 Forester and the stock windshield was by far the most easily chipped windshield I've ever had in a vehicle. Seemed to chip much easier than the glass on the 2010 Impreza I had before. I guess what I'm saying is I don't think Subaru glass is that great, at least for my model.
The new windshield last 3 weeks before we had to do it all again. Each crack 16” to 20” with no visible impact.
