Pilkington Windshield

The Mazda 3 I purchased 6 months ago part of the purchase was replacement of the windshield. They installed a Pilkington; it has the HUD logo and no issues. Yes you need to have the camera calibrated as part of the deal.

VALVOLINE Engine oil

I've seen good results online.

For 2 dollars more than the regular high mileage offering, I figured it was worth the risk.

I am doing a couple of oil changes with it (1k, 2.5k, 5k), and am hoping to see some evidence of it working on my 190k Mazda 3.

Pros: good results online

Bosch Spark plug

I use 5w-30 Valvoline Restore & Protect, I’m from the SoCal low desert region. Never had an issue, changed every 5,000 miles (nearly once a months cause I commute so much for work).

Pros: no issues, reliable performance

OEM Mazda Engine oil

I personally am changing my own oil with full synthetic on my 23 2.5T every 6000 km or so. No need other than peace of mind for me. Doing it myself only takes 30 minutes and $35 in oil, filter and crush washer.

OEM Mazda Brake pads

Surprisingly, it needed brake pads and rotors at 21k miles, and at $1,100 at a trusted local mechanic, it wasn't as cheap as I expected. When I bought the car with 1,400 miles on it, the piano black trim inside the car was already scratched, and it looks quite a bit worse now. I also have to echo the thin paint comments from above, I've never seen a car that scratches so easily. The car's manners on the highway at 70 mph+ are a little nervous for me. On the plus side, I've always enjoyed the way the car looks and drives around town. The interior does look way better than the original MSRP would suggest (even with scratches). And we've had no surprising issues, other than the early brake job.

OEM Mazda Battery

Basically many of the oem stock items for mazda are fine, but have notoriously short life expectancy. They have to cut corners somewhere. Battery and tires are the ones I've noticed that are good for a couple years at most before they are ran through. So yeah, I've had a mazda thay needed a new battery after 2 years, one that needed a new battery after 3 years. Just how they go.

Cons: notoriously short life, lasts 2-3 years
