TRW Brake pads

I use TRW brake pads (just checked, articles are GDB3592 for front, GDB2172 for back). They make quite a lot of brake dust during spirited driving, but that’s not a big deal for me (IMO more brake dust = less wear on brake discs).

Pros: less disc wear
Cons: lots of brake dust
Vehicle: Mazda 3
Part number: GDB3592, GDB2172

OEM Mazda Brake pads

2015 sedan. I did my brakes last spring. I went with OEM as I found them cheaper than any aftermarket I could find near me and as far as I knew I still had OEM on my car and had lasted me a long time. Zero issues since having them installed, I’m happy.

Pros: zero issues, long lasting

STOPTECH Brake pads
Modsda3
  • Braking:
  • Noise:
  • Dust:
Rating 5.0

I switched from oem to EBC slotted rotors and StopTech "Street" pads about 20k miles ago. I won't be switching back. Firmer and more immediate initial bite, more consistent brake feel, and no brake fade even when carving up the canyon. This with good lifespan for the pads, zero noise, and low dust. I do have to be mindful when braking in traffic though, as the pads took about ten feet off of my 60-0 stopping distance and the performance tires a few more, and I don't want to end up wearing the vehicle behind me. I have a '16 sedan and only changed the front brakes out.

Pros: firmer bite, consistent feel, no fade
Cons: shorter stopping distance
Vehicle: Mazda 3
Mileage: 20000 km

I put a set of 4 weatherpeaks on our FWD Mazda 3 and I have been very pleased. Quiet, smooth, surprising good in the snow (especially for fwd). And great in dry and rain so far too. Would absolutely buy again.

Pros: Quiet, smooth, good in snow

Cooper Tires
MazdaMtnBiker
  • Grip:
  • Noise:
Rating 4.0

They performed admirably, especially for the price. To my ears they were quieter than the factory Dunlops, and they definitely lasted longer. I replaced them after around 45,000 miles (~72,000 km since I see you are a northern neighbor) because of a sidewall bubble, but that was courtesy of a massive pothole rather than any sort of defect. There was still tread life remaining.

Pros: quieter than factory Dunlops, lasted longer
Cons: sidewall bubble from pothole
Vehicle: Mazda 3
Mileage: 72000 km

PENNZOIL Engine oil
TW1TCHYGAM3R
  • Engine noise:
Rating 3.0

From my knowledge it doesn't matter what brand you put in. Just make sure its quality oil that's rated for your car and do oil changes regularly. I have used Mazda branded Moly 0W-20, Mobil1 Extended Performance 0W-20 and currently Pennzoil Platinum 0W-20. Honestly I can't tell the difference between them at all.

Pros: quality oil, regular changes
Cons: no difference between brands
