POWER STOP Brake pads
Noyiz
  • Braking:
Rating 4.5

I'm running the powerstop Z23 rotors and brake pad kit. Did it early spring last year. Very happy. I hated the initial bite of the stock pads, God forbid I hit a bump while braking. Pricey but happy with the look + performance. Im in the Midwest.

Pros: good look, good performance
Cons: pricey
Vehicle: Ford Fiesta

Hawk Performance Brake pads
DEO3
  • Braking:
  • Dust:
Rating 4.0

I was pretty unhappy with the short life span/brake dust of the stock rotors/pads, so when it was time to change them I went with: Centric Cryo-Treated rotors, Hawk HP Street 5.0 pads. I got what I was looking for in terms of improvements to longevity and brake dust, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the bite of the stock setup.

Pros: improved longevity, less brake dust
Cons: missed stock bite
Vehicle: Ford Fiesta

Centric high-carbon rotors and Hawk HP Street 5.0s. Less initial bite than the OEM pads, but more stopping force with higher pedal pressures and much less dust.

Pros: more stopping force, much less dust
Cons: less initial bite

EBC Brake pads
civilwarcorpses

Rating 4.0

Ebc Red Stuff. They are a little milder than Yellow but still high performance. I can get a 20 min track session with limited fade. Although once I forgot to turn stability control off and they faded very badly after about 10 min. Less dusty than stock setup.

Pros: high performance, limited fade, less dusty
Cons: faded badly with stability control on
Vehicle: Ford Fiesta

MICHELIN Tires

I've had experience with both and while both are absolutely fantastic the Michelin tires felt like they warmed up a few minutes faster and handled the rain a bit better.

Pros: fantastic, handles rain better
Cons: warms up slowly

K&N Air filter
chubbysuperbiker
  • Visible dirt:
Rating 3.0

I've run them on basically everything I've owned for the past 15 years. People hate them because they claim the oil fouls the MAF and that they let in more junk. I've never had a MAF fail and I've had two F-150s go over 200,000 miles on them with their original motors. My current F-150 has 239,000 and counting, no problems with it. Why buy them? I do it because they're re-usable. I think the K&N for my current F-150 was $45 when I got it, and the Motorcraft filters are $10-12. So over time it will save money, kind of, if you don't mind the work. Would I do it again? Nah. I'm done with them because it *is* kind of a pain in the butt to clean and oil them all the time. On two vehicles they added a bit of pleasing intake noise but again, eh. No big deal. I wouldn't waste the money. Just get the manufacturer filter and swap it out every year.

Pros: reusable, added intake noise
Cons: pain to clean, no big deal
Vehicle: Ford
Mileage: 239000 km

I ran them on my mustang. They were dirty and occasionally loud. They also didn't last for shit as I believe they are really formulated for lighter cars.

Cons: dirty, loud, short lifespan
