Akebono Brake pads

On my street bmws I have been using akebono pads whenever possible. They dust a fraction of the OE compound. Zimmerman/textar and even akebono rotors are good from what I’ve seen.

Pros: minimal dust

Zimmermann Brake discs

I was recommended Zimmerman Rotors for my 550i by a bmw shop and I've really liked them so far. I've had them on for the past 4 yrs and never had an issue. I bought some autozone rotors once before that warped and rusted super quick.

Pros: long lasting, no issues
Cons: autozone rotors warped

MISHIMOTO Engine radiator
Lefthandedsock
  • Overheating:
  • Leaks:
  • Sweet smell:
Rating 5.0

I’ve got Mishimoto’s X-Line radiator. It’s an absolute beast of a rad. I’ve had mine for 7 years of daily driving and track days, and I’ve had zero problems with it. I fully expect it to last for the life of my M3.

Not everyone has great things to say about Mishimoto rads, but from what I can tell their X-Line rads are built very well.

Pros: absolute beast, zero problems, built well, long lasting

OEM BMW Cabin filter

I've had to replace the cabin filter 2-3 times because of this problem. At first the smell would go away after replacing the filter, but eventually returns, usually when spring rolls around.

Pros: smell goes away initially
Cons: smell eventually returns

OEM BMW Brake pads

Hey there, maybe you can help me out with the embarrassingly loud brakes on my g80 m3 (does not have the $8k carbon brakes package).

I bought it new and since day 1, the brakes have squealed incredibly bad. Not bad like "this is performance brakes so you have to tolerate it because you bought a sports car," which is what BMW has told me 50 times now. But awful, ear piercing, screeching every single time I brake. I took the shop foreman on a ride who agreed it was the worst he's ever heard.

Cons: awful, ear piercing, screeching

OEM BMW Windshield
alpinewerks
  • Chips/cracks:
Rating 1.0

Hi. I purchased windshield replacement protection (insurance) for my 2018 x1 through my local BMW dealer. The windshield got a chip and the dealership patched the chip saying the windshield did not need to be replaced. The window then cracked all the way across a few months later and my claim was denied because the windshield was already chipped. Annoying to say the least, that I bought windshield protection but am not allowed to use it to replace my cracked windshield and had to pay full price for a new windshield. Needless to say I won't buy the add on protection services again.

Cons: claim was denied
Vehicle: BMW X1
