Windshield OEM Subaru or OEM Hyundai

OEM Hyundai Windshield

I used safelite for my Hyundai Palisade, had to get approval from Progressive for OEM. They approved, took vehicle to Safelite a week later and they replaced the windshield and calibrated in 3hrs.

Pros: quick windshield replacement
Cons: needed insurance approval
Vehicle: Hyundai

I got a crack in my windshield on my ‘19 Tucson. Took it to safelite (specialty shop that only does glass repairs) and was charged $700 for the windshield and calibration.

Pros: lifetime warranty
Cons: lack of OEM
Vehicle: Hyundai Tucson

I have a 19 and have driven 30,000 so far, mostly highway. I’ve had pebbles hit the windows a few times, leaving a small crack once. Smaller than a dime. It’s been at least 6 months and it hasn’t grown at all.

Pros: crack didn't grow
Cons: small crack from pebbles
Vehicle: Subaru Forester
Mileage: 30000 km

The windshield is by far my biggest complaint. My first week of owning it I got a nice big rock chip. My first winter I guess a small rock got stuck in the wiper and made a 5 inch scrape. My old Subaru’s windshield seems so much more durable.

Cons: chips easily, scrapes easily
Vehicle: Subaru

I now have a 2024 crosstrek and the windshield cracked within the first 6 months too. This time it was a tiny pebble that hit right on the edge of the passenger side A pillar. They must use very brittle glass.

Cons: cracked easily, brittle glass

Now have a 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness and 2 days after I got it I found a chip in the windshield. I would say yes, the newer ones chip easier but that’s just my experience so far.

Cons: chips easily

Just noticed a small chip in my current Crosstrek (2021). Prior to owning a crosstrek, I’ve never had even the SLIGHTEST amount of damage to my windshield.

Cons: chips easily

2022 Sport at 15k miles and the windshield has a few noticeable chips. It is only rarely driven on the interstate. It does seem unusual considering my Tesla Model 3 with 30k miles does not have a single noticeable chip.

Cons: chips easily
Vehicle: Subaru
Mileage: 15000 km

EyeSight-enabled Crosstrek windshields are larger than typical and have far less curvature; therefore, they’re more vulnerable than otherwise.

Cons: more vulnerable
Vehicle: Subaru
