Windshield OEM FORD or OEM Hyundai

OEM FORD Windshield

They specifically asked if I wanted OEM glass with the Ford logo or if aftermarket was okay. Iirc the price was the same either way so of course I chose the OEM one, it was actually a pretty good experience.

Pros: OEM glass option, good experience

I ended up going through a reputable local glass shop near me who was able to order the OEM glass from Hyundai (took several weeks) and cost about ~$1,600. They didn’t need to do any camera calibration since they didn’t have to move any camera modules. I haven’t had any problems since then. As for whether to get OEE vs OEM? Really up to you but I really preferred to have the OEM just for peace of mind, especially with a HUD and all.

Pros: peace of mind, no problems

I had mine develop a huge crack just from warming up in the morning sun and then me spraying wiper fluid. I read on some forums that it's a common issue with the Ford glass and that it's super thin or something to that affect.

Cons: cracks easily, thin glass

I have a 2018 Elantra GT sport and just had my windshield replaced due to a crack. The installer basically told me the same about my windshield. The windshield wasn't sealed to the car on the driver's side. It seems only the passenger half was sealed properly. I'm going to report this to Hyundai Canada as this is a potential safety hazard for anyone who gets into an accident or it could lead to water leak issues doen the road.

Cons: windshield not sealed, safety hazard

The windshield has already given out on me. It appears as if a rock chip turned into a crack almost instantly and I’m concerned if this is a common occurrence because I saw some others mentioning it. I’m out $800-900 for the repair and another month or two waiting on the windshield as it is on back order. I haven’t seen a windshield crack this easy and I’m scared it will happen again. The car is so new there is no aftermarket options for the windshield so you are forced to go with the OEM option.

Cons: cracks instantly, expensive repair, long wait time, no aftermarket options

I bought my venue last Saturday, a week later a tiny pebble hit it on the highway and later noticed a crack. After not too long and it being parked, the crack got noticably longer. I have never in my life had a windshield break like that, ever, let alone for it to just grow.

Cons: cracks easily, cracks spread quickly
Vehicle: Hyundai
