I have a 2016 A6 2.0T w/52K on the clock now and it's been reliable thus far, although I did have to replace a water pump at 17K.
Had my water pump replaced around 50,000 miles in my 2017 A4 2.0t. Other than that, the car has been rock solid.
I'm working on adapting these water pumps to a variety of older engines. This one will be going on a Chevy LSx. The pumps support two different control schemes; one via PWM (no feedback) and one via LIN. I will be working on reversing the LIN communications and building a more sophisticated controller soon.
I too chose pierburg from fcp. Questionable weather it\u2019s any better than oem. I appreciated the all aluminum housing of the pierburg as it provides one less failure point which is the possibility of the plastic cracking due to an over torqued hose clamp.
It happens. I’ve had maybe 3-4 do this out of probably 300 we’ve changed at the shop. Once was a pierburg but the rest were autozone duralast etc.
Bought it in October, had it exactly 1 week, and the water pump blew. The dealer replaced it for free
I was topping up the coolant every month or so. Was advised I would need a new water pump, which I was expecting
Had to get water pump done on my A6 at 90000km / ~56000 miles. Was a couple years older than yours at the time, but still felt pretty low mileage to me.
Just be aware that B9’s are subject to water pump failures which can lead to the engine overheating. For months (Since March) I’ve noticed a “Whistling noise” coming from the engine bay while driving. Took it in to get it looked at (non Audi dealer) and was told it was normal. Drove it and drove until one day the car told me I had no coolant… that’s odd. Go buy coolant and keep driving. Now the car overheats and spits out all the coolant. Now it’s making sense. Either a combination of bad TStat sensor & water pump or just bad water pump. The fact that it never told me the coolant was hot the first time is spit out all the coolant leads me to believe both components are bad.
Had mine replaced last month before it broke again. The component that failed was the gasket for me then the pump failed and wanted money.
