water pump should be changed to metal impeller version at the time of timing belt change
i just got my waterpump replaced at 14,000 miles and it got rid of that annoying sound.
Get a new WP with metal impeller, Hepu, Graf.
Just to let everyone know, it did indeed turn out to be a defective O-Ring on the Graf water pump I installed a couple of months ago.
all graf water pumps with metal impellers are tested and balanced before packaged so why would there be any reason not to buy them ?
Just following up on this- I replaced the water pump and that appears to have resolved the issue. I have been monitoring it frequently and there has definitely been no sign of coolant leaking under the car in the area it was doing it from.
If your water pump is shot or going you will notice that your car is going to run hotter than ever. If you continuously see that you are overheating this could be the result of a bad water pump. I had to replace my water pump @ 25K when the original pump was removed the plastic impeller inside came out in about 4 pieces. It was completly fubar..
I had a graff metal impeller waterpump start leaking from the weep hole about 2 months after replacement.
I had a problem with a metal impeller water pump: I did a tbelt change about 10K miles ago. Used a GRAF water pump with a metal impeller(I think it is most common with the aftermarket tbelt kits). The bearing seal started leaking coolant 8k miles later.
My local aftermarket dealer stopped selling Graf water pumps after two bearing failures in the last month (one failure destroyed the camshaft timing belt).
