Tires YOKOHAMA or Nokia

Nokia Tires

I've had my Hakka 7s on my Mazda3 since 2014 (so going on 7 winters now). They're showing their age but not their wear. Mine are studded (as all 7s are) and I love the fact that they offer exceptional performance on snow and on ice.

Pros: exceptional performance on snow, exceptional performance on ice
Cons: useless on asphalt
Vehicle: Mazda 3

I have Hakka R2's on my Golf R and they are spectacular. Zero complaints, other than the price. To me they are the Pilot Sport 4S of the winter tire market: if you have unlimited budget you just buy them.

Pros: spectacular, zero complaints
Cons: price

Nokian's all day. We had the WR G4's on our Outback and I was smitten. They were my first experience with all-weather tires and I can't stop plugging them.

Pros: smitten, great experience

YOKOHAMA Tires

The yokohamas are probably your best bet, theyre some of the best tires on the market especially given their price. Pirellis are overrated as fuck and are not needed unless youre racing on a track, and they wear out extremely fast. Continentals are definitely the second best choice, especially if youre looking for a summer tire or something very grippy.

Pros: best tires on market
Cons: pirellis overrated, wear fast

I am looking at the Nokian Tyre One All-Season for my 18" wheels also. Both Kyle and Consumer Reports say they have good (low) rolling resistance. They start with 11/32 in. tread, vs. the Primacys with 8/32 in. They are warranted for 70,000 miles, vs. 45,000 for Primacy. Noise and comfort are rated good by Consumer Reports.

Pros: good rolling resistance

YOKOHAMA Tires

The only weak spot were the tires. The OEM Yokohamas inspired zero confidence so they were removed and sold. The cars is super comfortable, uses regular gas and the clutch/Shifter feel are great. LED lighting is a really nice touch as well

Pros: super comfortable, great clutch
Cons: Yokohamas inspired zero confidence
Mileage: 5500 km

For a cruising around/daily tire, no spirited driving, the Yokohamas Avid-S I've put on my girlfriend's Yaris are the most amazing touring tires I've ever driven on.

Pros: amazing touring tires

Nokia Tires

The first winter I had my current car, I went out and bought a set of generic steel rims and Nokian Hakkapeliitta's. Expensive but oh so worth it.

Pros: oh so worth it
Cons: expensive

YOKOHAMA Tires

I was not a fan of these tires in the snow. Never seemed to have an issue getting the car going, but did have the car oversteer and slide in the snow a few times.

Pros: car going
Cons: oversteer and slide
