Tires Pirelli or Continental

Pirelli Tires

I have the Pirelli CInturato SF3 on two of my cars and the Michelin Cross Climate 2 on one of them, and the better tire by far is the Pirelli. On dry roads the Pirelli works better, it does it's job very well at any speed. Where the Pirellis really shine though is in the rain. They work very very well, I have not felt any aquaplaning, and they really work surprisingly better than any tires I have had before.

Pros: works better on dry roads, excellent in the rain

I’ve been running the Pirelli Scorpion AS3s for about 15k miles and they’ve been great. Live in New England and they handle all seasons beautifully. They run smooth, quiet and they fit the racy feel of the CX5. Tread is also holding up very well.

Pros: great all seasons, smooth, quiet, good tread life
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 15000 km

I love the continentals, no matter the weather these things stay planted. Great grip and durability. I have bought 3 sets over the years and for my GTI it’s all I’ll buy.

Pros: great grip, good durability

I’m running Continental WinterContact TS 860S SSR snow tires in Maine. Made it 50-something miles to work Christmas Eve in at least 6” of unplowed snow out to the highway (including at least a 12” deep and wide bank at the end of the driveway with no momentum). Packed snow on the highway, and a fluffy snowbank as tall as the hood at the end of an off-ramp. That was just one of many adventures these tires have gotten me through between this winter and last.

Pros: good grip, reliable

I took my FWD hybrid through a lot of western Carolina roads during hurricane Helene on the stock scorpions and had no issues and never got stuck but saw a few jeeps get stuck on stuff I had no problem hopping over.

Pros: no issues, never stuck

I decided to preference lower road noise benefit of this Pirelli tire. I have a 2021 CX-5 SIG. Already a quite vehicle while driving but now even more so. The ride is so smooth. Discount Tire only needed to install balancing weights on one of the wheels. Speaks to the quality of these tires. I replaced the original Toyo A36, at 30K miles. I am very happy with my choice.

Pros: lower road noise, smooth ride, good quality
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 30000 km

Continental Tires

I had the Continental CrossContact LX on my Hybrid Ltd. My service center told me at my last service visit that I need a tire change at 22k miles, and I should budget to buy new tires.. They said Front thread is at 2/10, Back tires 5/10.. I rotated them and switch it the back tires to the front for now. These tires came with the car 3/4yrs ago.

Cons: short lifespan, low tread
Mileage: 35405 km

I have had experiences with many tires models on CX-5, my shop basically agreed Scorpion has to be one of the worst tires to recommend to customer for all the reasons you mentioned. These tires has worse road feel than even Westlakes

Cons: worse road feel
