Tires MICHELIN or Nokia

Nokia Tires

All I know is the Hakkapeliitta R2s on my Volvo grip harder than the Michelin all seasons that were on it when I bought the thing in ALL conditions, even in the dry. They're significantly less responsive, but I mean they're winter tires, with those massive gaps between the tread blocks they're gonna feel a bit squidgy. IDGAF what the CEOs are doing, it's still a damn good tire. I got through every bit of snow I attempted that wasn't higher than my actual ground clearance, they're fucking great.

Pros: damn good tire, grip harder
Cons: less responsive, bit squidgy
Vehicle: Volvo

Nokia Tires

I own a pair of Nokian zLine summer performance tires. Bought them brand new last year, did around 15000~20000km with them and the tread is almost half gone.

They grip magnificently though.

Pros: grip magnificently
Cons: tread almost half gone
Vehicle: BMW
Mileage: 20000 km

Just put Michelin Premier A/S on my '14. So far so good, $70 off too. They were available at almost every tire store I checked and have a 60k warrant. Car feels tight again.

Pros: car feels tight

My first two sets were the OEM Conti's and PureContact. They were both great in fuel mileage and (Dry) grab & release specs. I just put on a set of Nokian eTyers 8,000 miles ago . The three areas where (IMHO) the Nokians out perform the Contis is in: quietness, rain & snow. The Contis were better on dry pavement but were noisier.

Pros: quietness, rain & snow
Cons: better on dry pavement
Mileage: 8000 km

And actually I never posted it, but I made a new top cover for the radiator. It was the first thing I did to the car. I made it out of aluminum sheet. It's amazing what a difference it made to the running temp of the car.

Pros: difference to running temp
Vehicle: Volkswagen

You've had the AS/3's. Frankly, I don't find much 'hard edged' about them. The ride is a bit stiffer than the OEM P Zero A/S tires on my MkVI GTI, but not tremendously. The big payoff is they are MUCH quieter than the Pirellis ever were. And as you likely know, they give up very little in the dry and I have never had a tire of their caliber in the wet. Under most wet driving conditions they drive like the pavement is dry.

Pros: much quieter than Pirellis
Cons: ride a bit stiffer
Vehicle: Volkswagen
