Tires Kumho or BFGoodrich
The KO2’s are what I’m running now. It’s a pretty legendary tire and has been around for decades now. They have good thread life, look aggressive, decently quiet on the road and do well in most off road situations except for thick mud since they aren’t, well, a mud tire.
I run the E-rated KO2's, have for the past three years. They aren't loud, ride smoother than the Geolander AT's that came on the truck, and balanced perfectly the first time through. People hate on the KO2's but I'm not sure why, it's an extremely solid, durable, race bred tire.
Ever since that, got some KO2s and can drive confidently in snow all day long.
For what it's worth , I run the 245x40x18 BFGoodrich g-force on my GTI. They fit fine on the stock wheel, they don't rub, speedo is off by like 2mph.
Tires I went with BFGoodrich g-Force COMP-2 A/S when I replaced the OEM rubber. They work very well in the dry and wet. I change to Blizzak's for winter time.
I actually run the kumho ecsta pa31! So far I love everything about them, they have tons of grip and really low road noise if that's something you're concerned about.
Gona have to second the KO2 good in snow, mud, dirt, slick rock, quiet in pavement, look aggressive, priced well, and you can put a lot of miles on them.
Update: Got the tires installed today. I noticed a major drop in road noise. I was using 9yr old Kumhos, that sat in the garage most of their life. Other than that, no noticeable difference going from 225/40 to 225/45.
just some feedback, stray away from bfg g-force kdw2 if you dont want noise. they handle amazing wet and dry, wearing good. BUT they have alot of road noise. not as much as my winters, but more than i would like.
My experience with Kuhmos is they were prone to sidewall bubbles after pot-holes or curb contact.
