I have the generals. All day today, I was like wtf is everyone driving so slow. Plenty of grip, predictable and balanced slip. A literal joy on a -40 day in Edmonton.
I had studded gislaved nord frost tires on a FWD Chevy Spectrum back in the day and was unstoppable.
Ran the 365AW on my Forester & found it to be a competent tire for the freak weather events that happened before/after the winters being on.
Recently picked up a set of general altimax 365aw for my 2013 XV. They seem to handle rain fantastic and seem to be well lugged/siped for snow. Not a dedicated snow tire, but better than all seasons!
I ran them for the past few years in PA winters. Not a single issue. Love them.
I use GMax on my GTI daily. They are a good budget tire.
I have run the GMax before I got a dedicated set of wheels and they did really well, well balanced and still held up for daily driving.
I have an R58 coupe and use Gislaved winter tires (made in Sweden). My mechanic recommended them, and it's a great choice.
I can vouch for the General Tire Altimax. I have them on my 14's. They are not very good for sporty cornering (mushy), but the grip is okay.
I switched my winter tires for summers back on the Miata and noticed something odd. There are parts of the tread in the center on every tire that just seemed to have fallen off at some point. I bought the tires in 9/2015 and they had a 1012 build date. I was quite upset with Tire Rack that they would send me 3.5 year old tires advertised as new but they said there was nothing they could do. I ran them winter of 2015/2016 and again this current 2016/2017 winter. Last year they didn't have this separation and I have no idea what happened. I don't think it's something small that I ran over since it happened to all 4 tires. They're 175/65/14 General Altimax Arctics by the way.
