Had em on my last 3 cars and the new one...Great tire but that's WAY too much for em..Tirerack.com should be more like $80 per tire.. Good in the rain and great around turns... It's NOT a snow tire though, it's a high performance summer tire. Overall I LOVE them...
I just got them mounted on Tuesday night, so haven't driven them far. They ride far nicer than my Nokian Hakka winters . Only downfall to the Generals is max pressure is 44 psi, so it's pretty marginal. But they are a 100H tire, so that's good. Plus they were not pricy.
I had bridgestone s-03 last season. They were amazing, but don't last too long, which is why I might purchase these pirellis.
I am running 36 up front and 38 in the rear on my new 205/45-16 Bridgestone 750s. And I took it through the twisties pretty hard on saturday and it worked awesome even on the stock suspension! Good balance...not too much understeer.
Dood, give the Bridgestone potenza's G009 a shot. Just got them, have about 400 miles on them and Geez.. Don't i love taking 25mph ramps at 50-60mph. They are ALL season high perf. tires, with a 50,000 miles warranty.
Speaking of the RE950, my wife's Jetta has about 10,k miles on them and she's still extremely pleased with wet and dry performance. Also, the noise level is still low but, the tread sounds like it's wearing unevenly.
I would recommend the Bridgestone Turanza LS. I recently replaced my worn Falken FZ451s with these tires, and am very pleased. I have had the tires for a week and a half now, and the first immediate improvement is the complete elimination of impact harshness and bump-steer. Also, the noise is GONE; these tires are basically silent. The wet traction seems to be basically identical to the high-performance summer Falkens. High speed still feels completely stable and responsive. Handling overall is probably 92% of what it was...still excellent, very catchable, and the tires do not protest when pushed.
Id just stick with the S03. We had a survey printed out off of tirerack.com at work that compared all max parformance tires, or most of them. Number 1 was the S03, number 2 was the Michelin Pilot Sport and i dont even remember seeing the Firestone on the list...
After driving these tires, I noticed that the ride was much firmer and settled. The wheels now feem much heavier than before. You can feel the difference. They are very grippy. I floored it a couple of time to try and peel out, and it was very hard. In all honestly, theyre good tires, but my only gripe is that they are a little too heavy IMHO.
the pilots suck the largest balls this side of the circus in winter cond. I'm up in hamilton NY in winters and i got the blizzak LM-22s on millle miglia HP3 17\"s in january. they're the ****. i was slidin all over the place under any kind of acceleration with the pilots.
