I went with the E46 ZHP rack (second fastest) as my very first "quality of life" upgrade and it dramatically improved the car.
I have the Z3 rack in my 318is and I like the faster ratio because I drive it through small town Appalachia and these old, small, windy East Coast mountain roads.
I am really happy after installing an E46 'purple tag' steering rack. Absolute go cart :)
Mine was the same thing. Had the recall for my 2024 civic. Got it fixed for free at the dealer.
the factory rack is one of the few things i think bmw screwed up on these lovely cars.
I just got the sticky steering recall done.... only because they can void your registration given its a safety recall.... but now im upset because it was completely fine, and NOW its no longer tight when i put it into sport mode, now the sport steering feels like normal steering.... idk what the exact deal is here, but i do wish i could revert or gain that spring back i think they repalced because id like to have that back because it was 100% fine and normal in normal mode, only tighter in sport mode which i expected and loved
I just bought a 2018 civic ex-t and it has this exact issue.
I have the same issue with my 2024 Civic, and the dealership told me everything is tight and that I don't have to worry. They also mentioned that this issue is present in all Civics that had the steering recall work done, which makes no sense at all.
After the steering recall on my 2023 Civic Type R, I immediately noticed a slight clicking sensation and faint noise when turning the wheel left or right and letting it return to center. The clicking doesn’t happen throughout the full stroke, just during the return-to-center process. The dealership confirmed the noise and movement. After the recall procedure (syringe grease method for the EPS gearbox), the clicking noise was still present. They determined that replacing the entire steering rack is now necessary to resolve the issue.
