NGK spark plugs are preferred in rotary engine (RE) Mazdas and Nippondenso is the only acceptable substitute that I ever found. We dealership technicians, always found it remarkable how a set of Champion or AC spark plugs could instantly cripple a rotary powered Mazda.

Pros: NGK spark plugs preferred
Cons: Champion/AC spark plugs cripple
Vehicle: Mazda

NGK Spark plug

Stick to NGK R7437s. They are pricey but the best plug for a tuned car forsure. I inspect the gap every 5k miles and replace every 10k. Mine are gapped to .022

Pros: best plug for tuned car
Cons: pricey
Mileage: 5000 km

NGK Spark plug

I’d go with the recommended NGKs, buy from fcp euro and you only need to pay for them once. Those are what I run on APR stage 2.

Pros: lifetime warranty
Mileage: 10000 km

NGK Spark plug

I went ahead with an NGK Laser Iridium. Compared the ones from the engine and the new ones and were identical in shape and form. It does seem to work fine after testing it.

Pros: works fine after testing
Vehicle: Toyota Highlander

Recently i changed my spark plugs DENSO IRIDIUM IK22 with NGK BKR7E gapped at 0.28inch-0,70mm. The car became very laggy, the throttle response got worse, much more turbo lag and major lost of power. Also im going back with the Densos.

Pros: null
Cons: very laggy, worse throttle response, more turbo lag, major lost of power
Part number: BKR7E
