Spark plug NGK or Autolite

NGK Spark plug

I run usually one of 2 brands. Brisk or NGK both iridium. And both are 1 step colder than stock.

Pros: iridium, colder than stock
Cons: negative ignition corrections
Mileage: 10000 km

I found that it had Autolite Iridum spark plugs. They didn’t look bad and were gapped appropriately but I replaced them anyway with the recommended NGK spark plugs. Car has ran perfectly since then with no misfires or stuttering.

Pros: car ran perfectly
Cons: misfires and stuttering
Vehicle: Saab

Installed the NGK rs7 plugs and it runs fine. I kept them at factory gap, which was, if I remember correctly approximately .028.

Pros: runs fine

I just hit 40k miles and went with the NGK (RS7) plug gapped to .024, and the RS3 coil pack upgrade. The initial results after install was underwhelming. Car ran a tad smoother, but that's it. Since the benefit of the RS3 packs were to provide a more intense spark, I tried a wider gap ~.028-.030 Man it woke things up! Revs "effortlessly" and pulls hard from top to bottom.

Pros: revs effortlessly, pulls hard
Cons: underwhelming initial results
Mileage: 40000 km

Bottom line: you can't go wrong with NGK. Can't really go wrong with OEM Bosch either but I'd just stick with NGK and make sure you gap them right, call it a day. I'd avoid Denso.

Pros: can't go wrong
Cons: avoid Denso

NGK Spark plug

Change the spark plugs too while you are at it, with NGK BKR6EIX plugs (or BKR6E if you want to save money but these are the copper plugs and will not last as long as the iridium BKR6EIX).

Pros: save money
Cons: less durable
Part number: BKR6EIX

i am using pfr7b. maybe coincidental but my 3000-6500 logs always run a few milliseconds faster. only problem with .028 are some few intermittent low rpm misfires.

Pros: better performance, faster logs
Cons: intermittent low rpm misfires
Part number: PFR7B

NGK Spark plug

I've had my 2006 Audi a3 3.2 quattro dsg for 5 years now, and every year or so I will have an issue with a misfire on cylinder 6. It is always cylinder 6. I use the recommended NKG IZKR7B(7563) plugs. I often find that the cylinder 6 plug has a crack on the ceramic insulator around the electrode. On one of the plugs, half of the insulator is missing. Replacing the plug always fixes the misfire. I also noticed most recently when I removed the damaged plug, it was very hard to turn and some of the aluminum from the head has fused to the threads, leading me to believe that the cylinder is getting too hot.

Cons: cracked ceramic insulator, insulator missing, fused to head
Vehicle: Audi A3
Mileage: 204685 km
Part number: IZKR7B(7563)

Autolite Spark plug

When we got our 535xi one of the first things I did was visit the local parts place to buy new spark plugs for the N54. After driving the car a while and visiting many BMW discussion boards I learned most folks have a very low opinion of them

Cons: low opinion
Vehicle: BMW
