I upgraded to Bilstein 5100 front and rear, keeping the front Toyota springs and replacing the rear springs with Old Man Emu 2895.

When towing my camper now, my 4Runner sits level and handles much more confidently.

Pros: sits level, handles confidently
Mileage: 140000 km

I installed them today as well as the black forest industry solid rubber bushings for the front control arm. I definitely enjoy the ride way better than the shi*t coilovers I had. Very smooth bounce back when hitting shallow parts of the road. Feels slightly floaty which I kinda enjoy. It hooks up to the road when hitting bumps and uneven pavement. B8s are definitely a go to mod if you want to lower your GTI and improve handling

Pros: smooth bounce back, improves handling
Cons: feels slightly floaty

Sachs Shock absorbers

La única otra marca que consideraría seriamente sería Sachs, pero solo las cargadas con gas, diseñadas para reemplazar las unidades GTI originales.

Pros: diseñadas para unidades GTI
Vehicle: Volkswagen

If you want an OEM original ride you can probably stick with the springs you have and get some Bilstein B4 rear shocks and front cartridges. Any other way will be stiffer and lower. This will have it ride about like it did when new.

Pros: OEM original ride
Cons: stiffer and lower
Vehicle: Volkswagen

I responded to a few Bilstein HD threads when I had my EVC, recommending against them. They were just too damn firm. Now I have an EV Weekender with Bilstein HDs (installed by PO) and they are almost just right (could be a tad firmer). I can't explain it. Did Bilstein change their valving at some point in time?

Pros: almost just right
Cons: too damn firm
Vehicle: Volkswagen

I had Bilstein HDs on my 2003 Weekender, but finally decided the ride was too rough for me and switched them out for regular Bilsteins.

Pros: Quietest and smoothest ride
Cons: ride was too rough
Mileage: 120000 km
