The R also still had factory shocks and also needed to be replaced, so I went with Bilstein HD shocks all around. The HD's had awesome reviews and were cheaper than the Koni FSD shocks.

Pros: awesome reviews, cheaper price
Vehicle: Volkswagen

As an FYI, my car is lowered on VWR (almost twice the drop of driver gear) and has Bilstein B8 shocks as well, no other mods aside from the. I had zero problems with a Hunter drive-on alignment rack, and my tech was able to set the alignment to proper spec w/o issue. Car drives great.

Pros: Car drives great

Bilsteins - I have experience with since they were on my 2005 GLI from the factory and I loved how they handled. You could take that car into 45 mph corners at 60 and not a bit of sway or worry.

Pros: loved how they handled

Finally got around to replacing the original worn out shocks. They had 83k miles and 13 years on them! I decided to go with the Bilstein HDs. In my opinion the ride is nearly perfect now. Virtually no bounce or see-sawing when going over speed humps.

Pros: nearly perfect ride
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 133577 km

As you all can see, the dyno showed how the TC Sport are (as also advertised) pretty close to stock, if we look at the compression. The rebound is quiet more than stock thought. But from the graphs is pretty clear that the TC is not any near the advertised 10 or 20% stiffer than stock

Pros: rebound more than stock
Cons: not 10-20% stiffer

I had Bilstein HDs on my 2003 Weekender, but finally decided the ride was too rough for me and switched them out for regular Bilsteins.

Pros: Quietest and smoothest ride
Cons: ride was too rough
Mileage: 120000 km
