I put 5100s on the back yesterday and it already feels a lot better - firmer, more controlled going over angled dips in the road (think of railway crossings or water bars etc), and I am surprised at the reduction in roll / wallow.

Pros: firmer, more controlled
Cons: reduction in roll
Vehicle: Ford
Mileage: 26000 km

I’ve been happy with the 6112/5160 bilstein combo. I just did it it at about the same mileage 245k. Rides smooth and absorbs bumps pretty well.

Pros: rides smooth, absorbs bumps
Mileage: 245000 km

My factory shocks were all totally blown and I did replace those with Bilstein 5100. You lose the electronically adjustable shock valving by not replacing with factory but...meh.

Cons: lose adjustable shock valving

I actually did Bilstein 5100 all the way around with .85” lift in front (to “level” out the rake) but kept my rear airbags and did a slight adjustment to the rear ride height sensors for the level. Mine rides great and I like that I still have the self leveling rear.

Pros: rides great, self leveling

My E36 always sat higher after starting to use Bilstein shocks. Did NOT replace springs. B4 first and B6 after. Definitely over-damped, car almost disregards the springs and runs on shocks alone.

Cons: car sat higher, over-damped ride
Vehicle: BMW
Mileage: 200000 km
