Oil filter Mann or K&N

Mann Oil filter

I just go to Walmart or Costco and pick up 5W30 and a filter on ebay or amazon (mann). As long as it's LL01 approved oil, it'll treat your engine right.

Pros: LL01 approved oil
Cons: waste money

K&N Oil filter

DIY 7500mi interval engine oil using 5qt bottle of Mobil1 0w-20 fuel economy oil (takes the whole thing), a K&N HP-1008 filter (why, because it's so easy to wrench off every time), and a new 9956-41-400 aluminum washer.

Pros: easy to wrench off
Part number: HP1008

K&N Oil filter

I’ve been using K&N air and oil filters in mine for ten years. I run nothing else and will always run K&N. I’m happy with mine. Oil filter number HP1008. I would recommend. The one inch nut on top is often very helpful getting the filter out. I also run K&N oil and air filters in every vehicle I’ve ever owned. There is a noticeable difference in throttle response for the air filter, but I’ve never seen a difference good or bad in the oil filters.

Pros: easy to remove, reliable
Vehicle: Mazda
Part number: HP1008

Mann Oil filter

this picture is an OEM [MANN] oil filter that is 2k past due on the oil service. Again, the advantage of paper filters is that I can see every single one and determine which seems to hold up and which do not. I do not cut open the metal canister versions unless I am looking for something [aka diagnosis]. Some of the really cheap ones will break apart when you take them out of the housing. They literally break apart in your hands. This filter is not collapsed like the Wix version.

Pros: not collapsed, holds up well

Mann Oil filter

Mann W71922 is a perfectly good filter and readily available, and the Mahle OC46 for the 928 will fit a 944, it's just taller. Also should be readily available.

Pros: readily available, good quality
Vehicle: Porsche
Part number: W71922

K&N Oil filter

The K&N for my car was literally half as thick as the oe, and for that reason alone I swapped back. Yes it was the right one. Personally I’d rather just swap the filter than clean and re oil one that is probably doing a worse job

Cons: too thin, poor filtration
