Brake pads OEM Toyota or OEM BMW

OEM BMW Brake pads

I've been driving it with a Stage 2 tune for 4 years and put another 50,000km on it and I've had 0 repairs. Maintenance is more expensive of course, bigger tires, bigger brakes, more oil, it all adds up but the B58 is super reliable.

Pros: B58 super reliable
Cons: expensive maintenance
Vehicle: BMW
Mileage: 50000 km

OEM Toyota Brake pads

Pros: ok ang quality, peace of mind
Cons: can damage brake rotors

If you find a used BMW that has been well taken care of, especially one with an inline 6 cylinder, you should have very few issues for 5 years of ownership. A few examples in my family… 2003 X5 4.4i just regular maintenance including new brakes for 5 years of ownership and 60k some miles.

Pros: regular maintenance
Cons: new brakes
Vehicle: BMW X5
Mileage: 96560 km

I’d never buy a used car with more than 30-40k miles. If it’s around 30k-40k miles, I’d say you should be mostly problem free but you’ll have some maintenance things to take care of: Brakes and fluid

Pros: mostly problem free
Cons: maintenance to take care
Vehicle: BMW
Mileage: 64373 km

2001 740i never had any issues with the throttle response but the brakes could be better. Too spongy and not as responsive as my 99 540i was.

Cons: spongy, not responsive
Vehicle: BMW

I disagree with most on daily driving the 80. I find it reasonably accessible to drive regularly with one exception: the brakes. Most people are used to their cars stopping at a moments notice and the stock brakes in the 80s suck.

Cons: stock brakes suck
Vehicle: Toyota Land Cruiser

I wouldn\u2019t get them again. Occasionally noisy at low speed, very unsettling brake feel in heavy rain/water, debris can get trapped between the caliber and wheel creating an ungodly noise. That being said, I have 82k miles on mine and still original pads.

Pros: original pads, 82k miles
Cons: noisy at low speed, unsettling brake feel
Vehicle: BMW
Mileage: 131200 km
