Brake pads EBC or POWER STOP

EBC Brake pads

I installed EBC Redstuff pads on stock rotors... Well pretty happy with that so far. I just finished the break-in period. Better initial bite than OEM TRW pads. And little more braking power overall.

Pros: better initial bite, braking power
Cons: lots of dust
Mileage: 6000 km

I have Power Stop all around on my daily driver - a Pontiac Vibe base. Z17 Ceramic pads in front, Geomet-coated rotors (note that the coating will wear off quickly where the pads contact, but it does keep the rest of the rotors from getting rusty), and OE-style semi-metallic shoes in the back. Stock calipers. Not sure how they do with more spirited driving, but I think they work very well for my daily. No noise, no noticeable dust, good braking power.

Pros: good braking, no noise, little dust
Cons: tabs too big, coating wears

I'm REALLY picky about brakes... I've been down this road more than a few times and finally settled on Powerstop Evolution pads... they bite really well, warm or cold weather, and they don't eat the rotors alive either I think they are the best street pads I've found to date.

Pros: bites really well, no noise
Cons: excessive dust

I've been running EBC Redstuff for 5+ years now, and while I haven't looked at the pad clips in over a year I don't recall them being any different than OEM. Performance has been good, and they're less dusty than the original pads.

Pros: good performance, less dusty
Cons: pad clips not recalled

I got them replaced with the EBC YellowStuff and the brakes feel much better at the track now. They still get a bit soft once it's hot, but this may be due to the brake lines expanding?

Pros: brakes feel much better
Cons: get a bit soft
Vehicle: Volkswagen

EBC Brake pads

ebc yellows are great, but you need to bed them in with a hard stop from 180 kmph, not something you want to get caught doing.

Pros: great performance
Cons: difficult bedding-in process

EBC Brake pads

I had yellows on my MR2 and I have greens on my BRZ. Yellows are amazing pads but you feel like you’re driving a 40 year old car when they are cold. If you have to stop fast on a cold morning it takes a lot more braking effort. Greens are amazing daily pads. No compromise on low temp and I haven’t even touched their top end with spirited driving.

Pros: amazing performance when hot
Cons: reduced performance when cold
