Brake pads Brembo or EBC
The brembos make a big difference.
I run the dimpled and slotted versions along with EBC yellow pads and they grab WAY better than stock in every comparable way. The initial bite on the pads when cold and hot is significantly better and they resist heat much longer too.
Brembo SA/SP material for good performance price ratio.
Brembo LA material for longevity vs performance ratio.
Running EBC Yellow's at the moment.
I went with EBC Reds (ceramic, low dust) as they have a decent reputation. EBC brakes do not include the standard brake kit hardware.
I use brembro all the time, and they honestly last longer I think. I use them on my 9-3 2.8V6 convertible
Edit: I used the M-tec rotates drilled and grooved with the brembro brakes, front and rear
My braking is much better especially on a long drive with hot days, no brake fade at all
I put some Brembo prime pads on my S80 I had them on before and were pretty solid, until they were about 80% worn and braking performance fell off a cliff Put new prime pads all round and for the first 2k miles they were amazing, very sharp brake feel but again performance started to degraded noticeably From cold they're crap, after about 5 minutes of driving when they warm up they bite as they should, also dust like mad, I left a 3 star review on AutoDoc and they gave me a full refund citing this could be a potential warranty issue, although I reckon that's them not wanting bad reviews on their site I'm probably going to go for Bosch next as that's the OEM Volvo use
I went with EBC rotors and RedStuff pads.
I also have some EBC braided lines and yellow stuff on my ST. But I think I didn't really brake them in before using them very hard. Needed to brake from around 200kph for a corner on the Nurburgring and fried them. The bite it used to have is gone now, I think I overcooked them
Hated my pair of Yellowstuff. Squeaked like no other. But I'm pretty sure mine were defective. I've been told they squeak but not ear piercing like mine were.
