Brake pads Akebono or ATE
Best pads out there IMO. I've only put them on my car for the last 200k km. I'm due to change them for the 3rd time in the spring lol (90% highway driving)
I always use Akebono PROAct pads, and cheapest Centric rotors (changed with pads every time) I stop GREAT.
If I remember correctly, you could also use brake pads from a VW delivery van, which was slightly larger than the VW bus. All you had to do was go to ATE etc. with the right number and you would get the right pads. When you asked for some for the Porsche 944, they said they didn't have any. The ones for VW only cost half as much.
I replaced my pads at 70k from factory. Had ATC on the whole time and I use PROPilot Assist and Intelligent cruise control often and most of the time it's together. Very minimal pad wear after replacing. The factory ones squeaked when it was cold but would go away after some heat, I went with the Akebono ASP pads this go around and no noise at all.
I went with ATE all around, very very good for the price.
I got the Zimmermann coated rotors and Akebono ceramic pads from FCP Euro. The braking power and smoothness are way better than what I had with the scrapy metal sounds before, lol.
YES! i have the same issue and its mental. DBA Slotted Rotors and the Street Performance (Green) Pads, clunk over bumps and when moving back/forward D/R etc. Rattle is 99% from the left side / without the depth check. DBA said to extend the shims so they stick out further, and it works temporarily for about a day, then back to normal. Everyone is recommending the ATE pads, so I might try them, but if these rattle too not sure what to do...
I recently replaced my rear brake pads with Akebono proact pads. The issue is when I go around 40 mph and break with a little force, I hear this loud noise coming from the rear. Sounds like the brake pads and trying to stop the rotor and not being successful. I never had aftermarket brakes on my car before but OEM brakes had no issues.
