Battery OPTIMA or OEM Volkswagen
I have an Optima Red Top in my 1990 Cabriolet. I have been very happy with it. It is probably about 7 years old at this time and I have never had a problem with it. Otherwise, I would REC a DEKA branded battery. IMHO, "cheap" batteries are not worth the relatively small ammount of money saved.
I'm on my third battery and was thinking about upgrading it to something more reliable, like an Optima.
When I was running two amps 2 12s eight speakers inside head unit capacitor and a built motor I use the yellow top with good success
Had my '18 R since May '18 and still on original battery, 25 mile commute to work each way about 1/2 hwy . At 57,000 miles.
OEM battery in my 2016 Jetta with 215k miles is still going strong.
Your alternator probably just shit the bed. Was on its last of its life then the added \"stress\" of a stereo system made it kill itself.
Skip the dupmtima battery and save the coin. The extra capacity of a larger battery might not make the battery last longer (+5-7 years), heat kills batteries more than a few seconds of starting, and heat doesn't care if you have a small or large battery.
I killed two of those, never buying again.
the battery in my 2016 died while JUST inside the 36k warranty. the OEM replacement lasted another 30k or so. bought an AGM replacement from Costco, but I don't expect it to last any longer.
On the other end of the spectrum, the eGolf sucks. It wasn’t good when new and I can’t imagine spending that kind of money to repair it.
