I've used G12 and Prestone in one of my Corrados. No noticeable difference in performance or running temps. I did 100% complete system flush when changing over. I like the Prestone for availability.

Pros: no performance difference
Vehicle: Volkswagen Corrado

You can regualr coolant as long as COMPLETELY flush out the system. I ran Prestone in my Jetta with regular flushes for 3 years with no problems...an no pitting of my cyl. head

Pros: no problems, no pitting

I think you should be fine. If it was the Prestone that you can add to all makes and models, that coolant is compatible with a wide variety of coolants. I have mixed that stuff with Dexcool and green stuff with no issues.

Pros: compatible with wide variety
Cons: mixed with Dexcool, green stuff

I can testify that the green stuff is not that bad. my buddies 92 was getting so warm, so we decided to do a complete flush on the system. we bought the prestone system flush, and flushed it twice. when we flushed it, all this crap came out, and the fluid that came out was a MUD color. after the prestone system flush, and 3 flushes with distilled water, we put the 5/150 prestone pure coolant/antifreeze into the 92, mixed 50/50 with distilled water. the 92 ran much cooler after that. on the highway, it was about 170, and in town, it averaged under the half way. so, buy whichever you like, but either way ou do go, make sure to fully flush the system. you will see better results either way.

Pros: ran much cooler
Cons: mud color fluid

I have never had a problem with the green stuff. I added it a year ago (about half G12/ half green stuff) and ran like that for months with no issues. I then changed the turbo and flushed the system and found no strange foams/gels or anything like that. I have since run nothing but the green stuff with no issues.

Pros: no issues, running fine

I have mixed the yellow prestone shown above with g12 when I was in a pinch like you are. I never had any problems for almost 6 months until i flushed and refilled with good fresh g12 So you should be fine...

Pros: no problems for 6 months
