I just installed 4 General Ultramax HP for $480 total. The price was excellent and the ratings on Tirerack were pretty good so I gave it a shot. I've had it on for about 1 week and it's been great. Very quiet.

I've had great luck with the Conti LX on my V6. Excellent smooth & quiet road tire, and long wearing as well. My original Dunlops lasted 30K, the Conti LXs over 50K. This second set of LXs looks barely worn with the car at 100K.
Nitto NT05 European Car Magazine has recently reviewed a set of Nitto NT05 tires and posted the review on their site. \"The Nitto team put its test time on the Nurburgring to good use; the NT05 exceeded my expectations in both handling and straight-line performance.\"

I've happily used UHP 235/45R17 tires on my Passat and Beetle 18T convertible with nothing but smooth cruising. I tried 38 psi but backed off, the slightly tauter steering wasn't worth the harshness on SoCal's crumbling surface streets. Mine were all German origin.
My RE50s were also loud at 16K. I replaced them with Falken Ziex RE 912s at 20k and they are very quiet.
Well Evan Tire of San Diego did a remarkable job. They'd installed a new left tie rod, 2 Falkine 912 tires and performed a wheel alignment. I took it for atest drive then hit the highway. I love the feel of the car now. Lowered cener of gravity, steering response is a bit more accurate with less body roll.
formoza 165 45's.... i gotz 2 sets. they are great. and fairly cheap.
I'll give you my experience fwiw... I've run toyo t1r 245/40/18 and falken rt615 225/40/18. First, let me say that if you're going to 245 you need to run 35 series tires, otherwise your OD goes up. Also, stickyness wise it's a better comparison. For me, there is no comparison to the above two tires on the track, the Falkens are far superior. For the street, I'm not too sure. I imagine the Toyo's would last longer.
i have the bridgestone potenza RE050A's.. came on my huffs stock...i need new ones on the front allready! with a 140 treadware rating they burn down quick!
