Owner reviews for timing belt kit

Here in Vancouver Canada, honda dealerships charge $1700 for the timing belt kit replacement and spark plugs.

Aisin/OEM should be the only things used for a timing belt kit on a Honda V6.

If aisin, don't worry about it.

On a timing job bare minimum is what is included in the Aisin kit which includes belt, pulley, idler, and water pump - AISIN TKH002, Rockauto trusted source, beware of cheap knockoffs.

Japanparts is prima, had ik op mijn oude Civic.

Ik heb goede ervaringen met distributiesets van SKF op mijn Toyota's.

Buy an Aisin kit, but get it from Rockauto.

Like others have said, the Aisin kit is quality.

I want my car to be as healthy as possible, so I figured I’d do a full tune up and replace everything. I wanted to hear your opinion on the following timing kit.

It includes:

1 Contitech Timing Belt (113 teeth)

1 Contitech Balance Shaft Belt (70 teeth)

1 GMB Timing Belt Tensioner (bearing assembly)

1 GMB Balance Shaft Tensioner

1 Timing Belt Tensioner Spring

1 Camshaft Seal

1 Front Crankshaft Seal

1 AISIN Water Pump

What do you guys think about these? Are they good quality? I know the oem water pump is aisin, so that’s fine, but what about the tensioners and belts?

It’s pretty hard to get parts where I live, and getting the aisin kit from rockauto (only pump, tensioners, and belts so I'll have to get the seals and springs somewhere else) will be pretty expensive because of shipping.

This kit is missing one spring. Is it a big deal if I reuse the old one?

I know the kit doesn’t include the balancer shaft seal; I’ll order it separately.

By the way, I plan on replacing the oil pump too, so any tips on that would be helpful.

I had my 98 Legacy Outback done 2 years ago and the timing belt kit/water pump was around $300. I think they’re charging you too much for that.
