We have a 2014 (F56) 2 door, Cooper S, manual. I bought it for my kid pre-pandemic and we've put about 50k km's on it since buying it. Zero issues. We do our own simple maintenance, oil changes, spark plugs, brakes etc and it's no different than any other car really in that respect.

Pros: zero issues, reliable engine
Vehicle: MINI
Mileage: 50000 km

NGK Spark plug

I would go for NGK. Using this brand on all my cars so far, I would not risk a switch. Although a compatible Denso will be equal for the short/mid/term.

Pros: good brand, reliable choice
Cons: risk of switching brands

NGK Spark plug

At 101k miles I recommend that maintenance package if it hasn\u2019t been done before and you\u2019re not mechanically include. Spark plugs were $80 for NGK plugs and I have diag tools + experience to inspect my own so cost is $100.

Pros: NGK plugs, diag tools
Mileage: 162544 km

I pulled Denso plugs out of my truck and put NGKs in. Is there a difference? Maybe... But experience with Japanese industrial equipment says that Japanese engines like OE ignition components. NGKs are cheap and readily available.

Pros: cheap and readily available
Vehicle: Nissan

I bought 2 sets of NGK Irridium plugs from Amazon sellers that turned out to be counterfeit. The electrodes were completely worn off with 60k miles on them. They are supposed to last 100,000 miles. The cars were misfiring and had spark knock.

Cons: electrodes worn off, misfiring
Mileage: 60000 km

NGK Spark plug

I learned that proper, very hard to tell, NGK knock offs even existed after I was bitten by fake ones off Amazon. The porcelain around the center electrode broke off and went through the engine.

Cons: porcelain broke off
