Owner reviews for oil filter

Manufacturers
AC DELCO Oil filter

Absolutely not. Example, I was an equipment manager at a Petroleum tank company. On our generator I tried to use several different manufacturers and the all blew the seals out because of filter material and pressure valves they used. I ended up buying OEM filters and never had a problem after that.

Pros: OEM filters solved problem
Cons: seals blew out

Mann Oil filter

I used that exact oil with a Mann filter on my 2013 Jetta SE for every oil change. Just sold it a couple months ago with 178k miles on it with 0 serious problems the 10 years I owned it

Pros: zero problems, long life
Mileage: 178000 km

Mann Oil filter

Also, the filter is just as important as the oil, use an OEM filter or a Mann Filter and use a new drain plug while you're at it.

Pros: important as the oil

Bosch Oil filter
thurteen

Rating 3.0

So I changed the filter to an $11 Bosch filter, got the car good and warmed up, still low pressure. When I start it up and the oil is still thin, I've got about 50psi and as it warms up it just goes lower until it'S around 10psi at 2000rpm.

Pros: 50psi when oil thin
Cons: low pressure when warm

Fram Oil filter

I do not know very many mechanics or race people who swear by wix or fram on cars that are mechanically more complex. i.e. high compression motors, vvt, etc.

Cons: not recommended for complex cars
