used Amsoil 5w20 last oil change and just did an oil change at ford with motorcraft due to my poor planning… typewriter tick is back with this oil. Didn’t have that at all with Amsoil.

Pros: no typewriter tick
Cons: typewriter tick is back

Mobil Engine oil

Mobil1 especially the ESP 5W30, it has certifications from major manufacturers such as MB229, BMW LL, and importantly Porsche C30 certified which is the most strict out there... Also can't be helped that I own a Peugeot which happens to recommend Mobil 1 as well...

12 years running and no major issues so far on the unreliable-ass Prince EP6 Engine.

Pros: no major issues
Cons: unreliable engine
Vehicle: Peugeot

AMSOIL Engine oil

Having recently transitioned from Motul 7100 to Amsoil Metric 10W40 for my Yamaha MT 15, for about 4000km I sought an oil that could deliver reliable engine protection and smooth operation. here are my pros and cons

Pros: Smooth Cold Start, Exceptional Heat Management
Cons: Increased Vibration, Limited Availability
Mileage: 4000 km

RED LINE Engine oil

I am running Redline 0w-30 during the warmer months. It was the most reasonably priced group 5 ester base (with great reviews) that I could find. Oil temps during my last autoX event were down 15 degrees F, compared to a similar day with the factory recommended 0w-20.

Pros: reasonably priced, great reviews
Cons: none

Castrol Engine oil

I use the Castrol Edge oil. I was doing 7500 mile oil changes and on this last one bumped that up to 10k miles. I sent out the oil for analysis to decide if I want to step up to an even larger interval. The comments left by the tester: 'Your CX5's engine looks good in analysis! Your results look really good by comparison after the 10,000 miles. Metals are all within good wear ranges, with iron even showing below-average steel wear. Nice! Titanium is just an additive in Castrol. Very nice! Go 12k miles next fill.' I will heed their advice and go 12,000 miles on this next one.

Pros: engine looks good, good wear ranges, below-average steel wear, recommended 12k miles
Vehicle: Mazda
Mileage: 16093 km

Mobil Engine oil

Throughout the summer I was averaging a quart every 750-1000 miles, still using Mobil1 15w50 & Viscoplus. This winter it dropped back down to 1 quart every 500 miles, but as the weather has warmed up, my consumption seems to have decreased again. I think that had something to do with the oil, which was admittedly way too thick for cold weather. I would let the car warm up a couple minutes before driving because that oil is syrup in cold weather.

Pros: good consumption in summer
Cons: too thick for cold
Vehicle: Volkswagen
