I too have a 2013 passat with the CKRA, I’m currently at 175k miles. I do my oil change every 7500 miles. I only use liqui-moly top tech 4200 5w-30. I usually never have to add oil between changes unless a lot of hard driving in the summer.

Pros: no oil between changes
Cons: hard driving in summer
Mileage: 175000 km

Castrol Engine oil

I've been using Castrol Edge 5w-40 for years and have had good results, but wondering what others are using. I initially used Mobil1 0w-40 but got a lot of lifter noise which disappeared after switching to Castrol.

Pros: good results, quiet operation
Cons: lifter noise with Mobil1

Castrol Engine oil

I noticed when the castrol 508 spec wears. It smells Faintly of onions and beans. Strange smell indeed, when I took my car to street side VW out of Amarillo, Texas.

Pros: rated for 5 or 7.5k miles
Cons: smells of onions and beans
