I have used BG ERP on my own high milage car since it had an issue with burning oil. Originally it was burning about 1 quart every 1k miles. After the first flush it improved a little. After the second flush it is burning 1 quart every 1600 miles (60% improvement).

Pros: improved oil burning

I use the Liquimoly engine flush at my shop. I use it on my own stuff. It's not too harsh at all so it won't cause any leaks or loosen the big stuff and cause damage. Have used the heavy duty BG stuff on some Audi 2.0t with the oil consumption and it reduced the oil consumption significantly.

Pros: reduced oil consumption

I started doing this routinely with every oil change. Only have a tiny 1.2tsi VW though, but the difference afterwards is noticeable. Especially in terms of rate of oil consumption. These tend to clog their rings it seems.

Pros: noticeable difference afterwards
Cons: rings tend to clog
Vehicle: Volkswagen

I had a sludge problem. I did some research and came upon Liqui Moly. I did a fresh filter change and added the sauce. 200 miles later the oil came out Black As a Moonless Night. Bye-bye sludge! On another car, I used the L-M 2037 Engine Flush. Sludge-no-more. This stuff flat Works!

Pros: Bye-bye sludge!, This stuff flat Works!
Mileage: 322 km
Part number: 2037

AMSOIL Engine flush

Rating 4.0

I have a 2017 with the 3.0T. I was burning 1qt every 1,000 miles. I was using Motul 5W-40 oil but before my last oil change I used the Amsoil engine flush. Per the instructions I let the engine idle with the flush in it for 15 minutes then changed the oil. I’m now using Amsoil 5W-40.

In the first 1,000 miles following the Amsoil flush and oil change, it used 1/3 qt. That’s a substantial improvement in my book.

Pros: substantial improvement
Cons: burning oil
Mileage: 1609 km

what have you tried so far? I had moderate success with Liqumoly Engine Flush, following directions on the bottle. At 100K miles, I went through 1qt after 4000 miles and i've cut it down to about half of that after the flush.

Pros: moderate success, reduced oil consumption
Vehicle: Volkswagen Tiguan
Mileage: 160000 km

Only Liqui Moly was truly effective. The ordinary English flush wouldn't remove the sludge. It will just make the oil very black.

Pros: truly effective
Cons: oil very black

I just used it last week. It pulled some nice chunks of sludge that the filter caught. Works on gas or diesel.

I used their engine flush on my last oil change. I can't say I really noticed a difference as far as a smoother engine, but I figured at 157,000 miles and an unknown history it couldn't hurt to run it.

Pros: couldn't hurt to run
Cons: no noticeable difference
Mileage: 157000 km
