if you want one that’s small and out of the way, I have Garmin Mini 2 and 3 on both my cars. You can view videos on your phone if you connect to the camera via bluetooth

Pros: small and out of the way

VIOFO Dash cam

I got viofo a229 plus which covers front and back and I’m very happy with it. You plug it into the socket and keep it that way. You need to install a compatible microsd card - either from viofo or a reputable one like sandisk. Depending how handy you are you can tuck in the cables leading to the back camera, and they’ll be hidden in your interior panels. Otherwise it is easy to install and comes with everything you need.

Pros: covers front and back, easy install

VIOFO a119 mini 2 for front view only or VIOFO A129/229 for front and back view buy on Black Friday cyber Monday Buy a Sandisk extreme or endurance 256gb card for it. You can use plug it in usb or cigarette lighter plug but I would recommend hard wiring using fuse taps to fuse box guru electronics car audio will install it for 120$ front view only ask for front and back view price if you get the A129. Everyone should have a dash cam if you get in a accident the other driver will say it’s your fault and it will go 50/50 fault and your insurance will drop you or increase your rates by a lot. If you cause injury in an accident they are going to sue you and could garnish your wages. For VIOFO cameras put time loop to 2 minutes and practice downloading video to your phone using VIOFO app and format(deleting storage) once a month VIOFO app is really good you download the app on your phone press the WiFi button on dashcam connect your phone to dash cam WiFi then go into app and you can just settings and go threw videos and download videos on your phone I hardwired my own to my fuse box using fuse taps and a automotive fuse tester using Chrisfixs YouTube video on how to install dashcam, by the time a bought a fuse tester 10$ fuse taps 25$ a dedicated crimping tool 20$ I should have just paid guru car stereo to due it…

Pros: good video quality, easy app
Cons: expensive, complex wiring

GARMIN Dash cam

I went for a Garmin Dash Mini 2 because it's discreet, doesn't get in the way of vision, and the data can be extracted easily.

Pros: discreet, easy data extraction

I've stuck with Garmin since then. Latest purchase was the 55 I think, the one with the lower fov so I can keep distance details.

Pros: keeps distance details
Vehicle: Volvo S80

when I picked the baseus vd1 pro, what really sold me was the video quality. It shoots 4k in the front and 1080p in the back with a sony starvis sensor, so it does great in low light. I’m really bad with wiring, so the fact that it just plugs in with no hardwire kit needed was a big plus. For under 200 bucks, it’s honestly such good value.

Pros: great video quality, easy install

I have the cobra 400d and it works well enough. The app can be a bit slow and hiding the cables from front to back is tricky.

Pros: works well enough
Cons: app slow, cables tricky
