I love Akebono brake pads, but I don't want to buy them for a brand new car.
Owner reviews for brake pads
Akebono makes great fully ceramic brake pads that have been long lasting, zero brake dust, and only a little squeakiness when they're cold for the first few brake presses at worst.
Massive step up from the OEMs assuming proper break-in. Since the car is just a daily, I can testify for the EBC Red pads with stock rotors. Been a year now and I feel like you truly need nothing else than this combo for the streets. Noise is minimal after break in period
I paid 800 all in for tarox front and rear dics and ferodo pads on my f10 535d and fitted it myself in a day..
I went with akebono brake pads which leave a lot less dust than the OEM pads and wear slower.
I have R1 Concepts on my daily R, I was fortunate to get them when they were on sale through their e-bay store. They work very well on a daily and the brake dust is very low. I really like them.
I was also looking at these. The price looks great!
I was hugely disappointed, because the pads are great. TBH, it's basically a low- to mid-tier race pad, so the price is not that ridiculous. I put quite a few track days on them and after trying out some other aftermarket pads, I actually went back to the OEM pads for 3-season street use.
I've also had the Hawk HPS, another popular pad, but this has less bite and actually takes some leg work to really get them working IMO. I didn't like the feel.
I managed to install my brake pads inside out on the rear of my MkIV Jetta. Noisy.
