UPDATE: i just got my wifes car back from the dealership and it turns out it was the battery for hers. The voltage thats normal for her car is 14.8 volts not 13.4. He said there are 40+ computers and when the voltage is low it causes havoc in the car.

Pros: voltage caused havoc
Cons: low voltage

OEM Volkswagen Battery

2017 got a new battery in 2023 before winter, didn't have a no start issue but figured it was time. Went with a dealer battery, was only $138ish for the 72ah upgrade and replaced it in their parking lot to get the core charge back.

Pros: affordable (72ah upgrade)
Vehicle: Volkswagen

I had to replace the battery on a 2016 Crosstrek this summer and, in retrospect, missed a bunch of warning signs before it finally wouldn’t start: slow cranking, occasional extra crank needed, flickering dash lights, and generally dim interior lights.

Pros: fixed starting issue
Cons: slow cranking, dim lights
Vehicle: Subaru

Duralast Battery

Drive a 2018 Nissan Rogue, about 80k miles. Have a Duralast Gold battery from Oct 2023, but live in central Texas where I hear batteries don't last as long.

Mileage: 128747 km

OEM Hyundai Battery

Depends on the car, both highway speeds:

- Our good EV, Ioniq 6: went from 18kWh/100km to about 26kWh/100km.

- Our bad car, EQB: Went from about 26-28kWh/100km to about 29-30kWh.

Pros: increased energy consumption
Vehicle: Hyundai

OEM Mercedes Battery

In the 166 body MB ML/GL, its under the passenger seat, with barely enough room to reach the rear terminal. It's also so far forward that you can barely grab the fuckin thing. Oh, did I mention that it is a group 49 battery.

Cons: hard to reach

OEM Jeep Battery

I just changed them out in a new (to me) Jeep Gladiator. First one was easy. That stupid aux battery required pulling the front right wheel and the splash guard, then dropping the little tray it’s in.

Pros: first one easy
Cons: aux battery difficult
Vehicle: Jeep
