OEM Toyota Engine oil

Just do it every 5,000 miles. It’s the standard for most vehicles. Unless it burns oil often, then maybe 3000miles. I have a 2019 camry se and I’ve done it every 5k miles. It’s currently at 96k miles, oil still looks golden and brand new before I change the oil after every 5k miles.

Pros: oil looks new at 96k
Cons: burns oil often
Mileage: 96000 km

OEM Toyota Engine oil

The cars are very capable of doing 10k mile intervals between oil changes AS LONG AS YOU USE THE PROPER FULL SYNTHETIC! You won't get any problems doing it that way, however by 5k the oil will have a little bit of dirt in it so some people will do it at 5k just for peace of mind and to make 100% sure that the engine stays clean.

Pros: capable of 10k intervals
Cons: oil has dirt at 5k

OEM Toyota Engine oil

i have a 2007 camry le v6. i got it a few months ago and plan to change the oil every 3000 km. i dont drive much and my mechanic (whom i worked under in an apprentice-like role for 3 months) recommended every 3k. i got the car in april and i still havent even driven 2000 kms since then (including four 200+km trips), so i still have about two more months until ill change it anyway.

Pros: mechanic recommended 3k

Just think of it this way. At 5k miles, your oil is already dirty and full of contaminates. Why would you want to keep driving with that oil for another 5k miles? Sure, the manual will say each oil change at 10k miles is required but if I want my car to last beyond 200k miles, I would take the extra precautions and change it sooner at every 5-6k miles.

Pros: extra precautions, longer engine life
Cons: oil is dirty at 5k miles

I change mine every 5,000 miles and the oil is dirt black when I drain it. I have a Rav 4 with the same AR25 engine and I want my vehicle to last as long as possible.

Pros: long engine life
Cons: oil is dirt black at 5k

It’s a fact that frequent oil changes are better than not. Anyone Toyota Master (NOT tech) will tell you every 5k and for good reason. Want to go by the manual and do every 10k? Go for it, but that’s insane. If you want your car to last as long as possible, change every 5k.

Pros: longer engine life
Cons: 10k intervals are insane

Appears to be OEM as it has Toyota branding on it. I tried tapping it with a hammer while my daughter turned the key but it didn't ever turn the engine again.

OEM Toyota Head gasket

Rating 2.0

I'll toss in the 7M-GE/GTE. Pretty much guaranteed to have a failed head gasket due to under-torqued head bolts unless you caught it ahead of time. Usually happened at the back due to excessive heat at the rear of the engine.

Pros: sounded great exhaust system
Cons: failed head gasket
Mileage: 200000 km

OEM Toyota Catalytic converter

The 2AZ-FE 4 cylinder comes to mind. It came with defective rings and pistons that make it prone to burning too much oil. This in turn also makes it have an early failure of the catalytic converter due to the oil clogging it.

Pros: Mobil 1 full synthetic oil
Cons: burning too much oil
Vehicle: Toyota Camry
Mileage: 200000 km
