OEM Chevrolet Brake pads

  • Braking:
Rating 5.0

The brake rotors from the Grand Cherokee and Caprice are nearly the same measurements though so I can mix and match. The bonus is that because of the 1996 Impala SS you can get performance brake pads for the Caprice calipers.

Pros: performance brake pads available
Vehicle: Chevrolet Caprice

OEM Chevrolet Shock absorbers

Rating 4.5

when my shocks wore out on the C5, I wasn't gonna pay $750 per shock for shitty, soft shocks, even if they're some form of (very early) mag ride. I bought way cheaper, way better ones far more suited to my needs than grandpa's. Funny, the cheapest shocks you can buy for a C5 are the OEM C6 Z06 shocks and they're like $280 for all four, and they're great.

Pros: cheaper, better, great performance

When my wife bought her Bolt EV, sales people didn\u2019t even try to sell an extended warranty or extended service. my household have been driving EVs for 6 years; 70k miles and zero maintenance outside of rotating tires. Cheapest cars to operate and maintain.

Pros: cheapest to operate, maintain
Mileage: 70000 km

OEM Chevrolet Battery

We've been driving two EVs, a 2012 Leaf since Dec2011 and a 2017 Bolt since Sept 2017.

In the Bolt we lose about 40% range at -20 and lower. Bu the range is so good to begin with its not an issue.

Pros: good range
Cons: 40% range loss
Vehicle: Chevrolet Bolt

OEM Chevrolet Fuel injector

Had one for work with a fuel card so never noticed economy that much.. LOVED the Van though!! Ours was RWD, fully optioned without leather. Bought it with 250k KM in 2007, sold it in ~2011 with 400k, and then I bought it back in 2014 with 443k KM... replaced the transmission at ~330k KM, other than that nothing ever went wrong.. until the end when I think the fuel injectors were leaking because it would always be flooded when starting cold.

Pros: LOVED the Van
Cons: fuel injectors leaking
Vehicle: Chevrolet Astro
Mileage: 330000 km

OEM Chevrolet Alternator

The only issues I had were with the alternator eating it's own bearings every couple of years or so and an intermittent cooling problem on the 2.8 that ultimately ended up being a blown head gasket.

Pros: fun cars
Cons: cooling problem
Vehicle: Chevrolet Beretta
