Mobil Oil filter

I'm not sure if the Mobil One Oil Filter is the best synthetic oil filter, but it is probably much better than the cheap Napa filter.

Pros: much better
Cons: not sure if best

I use Mobil 1 synthetic 0w20 with Mobil1 M1-209 screw-on filter for the 2012. I've been doing this for these cars since they were new. We don't put too many miles/year on these cars and so I change the oil every fall and every spring. Never had a problem.

Pros: no problems
Vehicle: Mazda 3
Part number: M1-209

Mobile 1 oil filter collapse? This is the second time that this has happened. First time was with a Mann oil filter. I would have though that Mobile 1 would have done better them this. This is the Mobile 1 filter with just 4,500 miles

Cons: oil filter collapse
Mileage: 7242 km

Dad is in the process of changing the oil in my car and told me my oil filter looks just like yours. Got me thinking and I realized used a Mobil 1 filter this time. An my car only had 4k on that filter. Stay away from that filter people!

Cons: filter looks bad
Mileage: 6437 km

I wanted to give you guys a little insight on my recent discovery. I have always changed my oil @ 10K miles, using mainly pentosin and Hengst or mann filters. On occasion when I don't have time to wait for oil to ship to me, I've used German Castrol and autozone filters (either STP, Fram or Mobil 1). The picture below is what my mobil 1 oil filter looked like after 9K miles w/ German Castrol. Mind you I have NEVER had a Hengst/Mann/Fram/STP look like this when changing my oil. Another tid bit of info, My oil was much blacker this oil change than it has ever been.

Pros: never happened with other filters
Cons: oil much blacker
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 14484 km

Mobil Oil filter

That M1 filter looks like the same media as every other filter I've ever seen on an FSI. The funny looking seal on the ends is useless since it's bathed in oil anyway. The only seal that matters is the one that sits in the housing and since I've never seen it leak I'd say that one is a waste of money

Cons: useless seal design

Mobil 1 Extended Performance M1C-451 Plastic end caps (blue). Maybe viton seals on the filter? Says product of USA Rated up to 15,000 miles... which sounds worse than the stock filter (30,000 km...)

Cons: sounds worse than stock
Part number: M1C-451

the bypass valve on the Mobil filter is too low for our engines ~ 15 psi. Mahle/Mann is at ~27 psi. In certain situations, even normal situations, the mobil filter isn't filtering at all

Cons: low bypass valve pressure, may not filter
