Mobil 1 Synthetic. im at 291k mi. no internal engine repairs. drive i hard every day. i change about every 6k mi. along with factory filter.
Mobil 1 0w40 why? its the cheapest 502 rated oil I can find.
I have a 2014 Audi A5 2.0T owned new since July 2014 and have done about half of the oil changes the car has had, myself. I have 61,000 miles now and the engine remains completely healthy as far as I know, with negligible oil consumption. My car has an electronic display virtual dipstick, not a physical one, and it takes several thousand miles before the oil level dips below "max" by "one notch" on the gauge picture. This type of Mobil 1 is 0W-40, which does meet VW 502. I never was able to tell any difference in feel or economy between the 2 weights of oil even though the Mobil supposedly should be a bit thinner at cold temperatures.
I've used Mobil 1 since 1986 in my other vehicles, but I don't want any issues with VW should there be an engine failure. Once out of warranty, I can buy the same oil for less at Walmart.
My 2001 330i loves Mobil 1 0w-40
Been running it for years on the stuff .
I use Mobil 1 European Car Formula 0W-40. This meets VW 502.00 specs and has a slightly wider multigrade range that suits the climate where I live: it'll be -15°F overnight this week, but well up into the nineties in summer. This Mobil 1 is also readily available almost anywhere, and was also approved for our previous BMW 525i and is for the Audi Q5 that's replaced it, so using the same oil for both simplifies my automotive life.
I'm at 50k using M1 0W-40 at around a 8k oil change interval. Did the first change at 5k. Ran it up to 10k for the last change. Not burning a drop of oil. That is like a miracle for a VAG engine.
Mostly Mobil 1. I have been looking into other oils for my Z06 though.
For Nissan I see people tend to prefer Mobil 1 Full synthetic. I don't know what other oil my Sentra was using before but the car runs better on Mobil 1 for me.
ever since 15,000 miles I’ve been using Mobil1 0w40 and Mobil1 oil filter every 5k miles. I’ve used it on both hot 80-100f summer temps and now on winter temps. Haven’t had a single issue. When cold I can tell how the engine revs down quicker since oil is really thick so I couldn’t imagine the 5w. Still it’s been running for more than 50k miles on the Mobil1 0w-40 and it’s been great.
