The K & N ones are very nice quality and make sense if you are going to keep the car for many miles. Once you buy them you will look at it and think man all the other ones are bad quality.

A great aftermarket filter like a K an N reusable filter can be great especially if you plan on keeping the car forever. You buy a cleaning and oiling kit. The other option is to buy a good quality aftermarket disposable one.

I bought the K&N replacement filter. I also removed this extra mesh that’s almost like it’s plastic welded on the engine side of your intake. Either way, butt dyno said I gained at least 1hp. And there is a little more intake noise which I like.

I use one in all my vehicles. My partners Subaru is at 130k miles and my Highlander was at 197k miles before i traded it in. Both had no issues and after that many miles in a dusty environment, I certainly saved $$$ by not buying disposable ones.

When doing oil changes buy a K&n oil filter.

Sometimes I can make 2500 and have actually reached 3k miles without adding oil.

Cheap ones are crazy and every time I use the oil filter I get at Walmart oil changes I’m adding oil at 1500 miles.

I put the KN in my 2019 mini cooper s, better performance noticed. Nothing huge though.

I threw one in my Dakota I had before the GTI and I could notice the difference.

I have an OE replacement filter in my GTi. Can I tell a difference? Not much in the GTi

In my experience they are a waste of money with risk of fouling MAF sensor. I’ve tried them in my diesels and gassers. I never once wasted my time cleaning and re-oiling a K&N. I just threw it out and went back to OEM.

I had a K&N air filter in a NA engine VW. Some particles do get through as I could feel grit on the inside of the intake pipe past the airbox. I washed and oiled the filter per instructions.
