KYB is way better than Monroe.
as far as KYB struts go I can say the build quality is excellent. The shop I work at distributes parts to auto shops in the area, and while we have a ton of options the KYB’s sell like crazy. I asked some of the techs about them and they’ve only said great things.
I have KYB struts on my '06 OB. They're firm, but not uncomfortable.
About 8 years ago I replaced the OEM struts on my Nissan Altima with KYB. They were still pretty tight (with no apparent leaks) when I got rid of the car about 5 years and 85,000 miles later. Granted, that mileage was probably 90% commuting on SoCal highways.
KYB Struts are a goos choice but it wount be that cheap, altho its really worth it.
Just bought some KYB quick struts from Rock Auto and they are spectacular. Insanely easy install as well.
I used KYB. They are the OEM supplier now since Tokico is not around. I bought mine through Rockauto. They frequently have rebates. I didn't buy the complete strut assemblies. I just bought the struts and purchased OEM springs seats, bearings, bellows etc.
Went with KYB struts, they got several good reviews compared to OEM
The thing I found out a while ago was that Mazda back in the day used KYB built struts for the 626. OEM is guaranteed to be restore ride quality for sure. KYB struts usually are always top notch and sometimes better than OEM (but definitely keep the coil springs).
I ended up going with stock kyb gr2 struts and swift lowering springs. It rides very smooth and looks good.
